Lisa and Neal Cash, we met when I grabbed her leg in a swimming pool on a dare. That was over 35 years ago. Seems a little surreal to think that was really us. I look at pictures and shake my head. We’ve got kids, they’re grown and all but gone. I joke with them saying, we didn’t stay together for you, we stayed together in spite of you. This is our time, our new time to discover US again. We’re doing it partially by traveling and searching for little adventures. Lisa’s mantra is try to do something you’ve never done before. The kids and I got her to try a raw oyster for the first time this summer. Me, I don’t need to know where I’m going or how I’m going to get there. I just love to drive. Pick a direction, or if you must go somewhere, take the long way. We have simple rules, if you see something you want to do or someplace you want to stop or some road you want to take, we’ll do it. It doesn’t matter if we just stopped or you have two or ten of these stops in a row. And perhaps with a little luck, we’ll find a fortuitous circumstance or a bit of serendipity. So bring your favorite music and let’s go Detouring!
